FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Doug Bredow, President Verrado Rotary Foundation (l) and Cheryl Peterson, President Rotary Club of
Verrado (r) present a check to Cassie Wilkins, Executive Dirctor, AFCS Buckeye Foodbank
April 23, 2024 – The Rotary Club of Verrado, in partnership with the Verrado Rotary Foundation, has made a significant impact on the local community by donating $50,000 to the All Faith Community Services Buckeye Foodbank. This generous contribution, presented by Doug Bredow, President of the Verrado Rotary Foundation, marks the largest single donation in the club's history.
The funds will enable the food bank to enhance its operational efficiency and expand its mission. Cassie Wilkins, Executive Director of All Faith, expressed gratitude for the donation, which will facilitate the purchase of essential tools, system upgrades, and training for point of sale software. This investment will not only prepare individuals for employment in local businesses, but also allow the organization to further its reach in providing support to those in need with a “hand up” rather than a hand out.
The "Gathering Buckeye" farm-to-table dinner and fundraiser, the Rotary Club's inaugural annual event held on April 6, 2024, played a pivotal role in raising these funds. The community's overwhelming support, including that of local residents and businesses, underscores the collective commitment to fostering positive change.
"The energy and generosity at the 'Gathering Buckeye' event were truly inspiring," said Cheryl Peterson, President of the Rotary Club of Verrado, a local business owner and event attendee. "Seeing our community come together to support the All Faith Community Services Buckeye Foodbank reminds us that we can make a substantial difference when we unite for a common purpose. This donation is not just about the funds, but about the spirit of community and the shared goal of uplifting those in need."
The Rotary Club of Verrado stands as a pillar of service and camaraderie, with members united in their dedication to addressing humanitarian needs both locally and worldwide.
