Our speaker last week was Heath Melton, Phoenix Region President of Hughes Corporation. Mr. Melton, a graduate of the United States Military Academy, was appointed to this position in 2021, to lead the development of Douglas Ranch in Buckeye. The 3,000 acre Trillium is the first village of the Douglas Ranch property and development is well under way. Douglas Ranch encompasses approximately 37,000 acres (four times the size of Verrado) and is expected to total 300,000 resident, 100,000 homes and 55 million square feet of commercial property on build out (roughly the size of current day Scottsdale). The community is LEED certified, includes its own solar farm and is designed to minimize the use of water. Following his presentation Mr. Melton fielded a number of questions and remained after the meeting to answer more questions. |
